Heart of Glass

Near the very top of my extensive “To-Do” list for this Summer is to check out one of the many Dale Chihuly exibits featured in Nashville.  He’s kind of taken the place over and I’m not gonna lie…I’m okay with it.  In case you don’t know, Dale Chihuly is one of the world’s most renowned glass artists.  Known for his incredible use of color, lines, assemblage and room-size instillations, Chihuly creates uniquely beautiful and strongly autobiographical works of art.  His abstracted flower forms (as seen in the lobby of Las Vegas’ famed Belagio Hotel), for example are a tribute to his mother’s lush gardens in Tacoma.

If you live in Nashville, you can get a closer look at a few of Chihuly’s masterpieces by visiting the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and Cheekwood Botanical Gardens (exhibits were scheduled to appear in the Nashville Symphony Hall as well, however it remains closed due to flood complications).  Thanks to Chihuly, I’m really feeling the glass medium today and wanted to give you a heads up on a Gilt Groupe sale I came across!  These Cenedese Glass vases and containers are on sale for about 75% off their original price.  If you’re interested in a little functional glass art of your own you better act fast, the sale ends tomorrow at 11pm!  Gilt Groupe is an invitation only organization but have no fear, we can get you in.  Check out some of the beautiful pieces featured below and access the sale at our invitation by clicking here.
